Play Elder Scrolls Online For Free On Xbox One This Weekend – onmsft.com

While Fallout 4 may have taken over a lot of Xbox One players’ life with its expansive vision of a post-apocalyptic world, those with more fantastical tastes are also well-served by Bethesda’s other big name, The Elder Scrolls. On this weekend, the world of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, the newest entry in the series, will open for owners of Microsoft’s console to explore, for free.
For those unfamiliar, Elder Scrolls Online (ESO for short), is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in the world of the Elder Scrolls. Unlike previous entries in the series, where the stories only focus on one region of the world, ESO bring together the whole of the Tamriel continent for players, offering an unmatched exploration experience the series is known for, with all the Elder Scrolls lore there is (which, given how long the series has been around, is quite substantial.)

Part of the Free Play Weekend program on Xbox One, ESO will be available to download directly from the Xbox store, or from the Gold Member area on the Xbox dashboard this weekend (a Xbox Live Gold account is required). Starting from 9AM PT On Thursday, December 10 till 11:59PM PT on Sunday, December 13, will be playable for free. The game will also be on sale at 60% off for the whole week until Monday, December 14, so if at any point during your playthrough are you smitten enough with Tamriel, there is enough incentive to get the whole thing. Your character, progression, gamerscore, achievements and are all yours to keep and will be carried over in the full version.
Also as part of the Free Play Weekend, by playing the game you will have the chance to win $1 million in Bethesda’s #MillionReasonsToPlay giveaway, for which you can sign up on the main website. The promotion is applied to both PC and Xbox One players.
