New Xbox One and Xbox Series X cross-platform logo used in recent video game trailer

While watching the new trailer for the recently announced Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time video game, eagle-eyed gamers may have spotted a new Xbox logo (see above image) on the final screen used to communicate what consoles the title would be playable on.

Until now, recent Xbox video game trailers and teasers have used an Xbox logo, an Xbox One logo, an Xbox Series X logo, or a combination of the latter two if a game would be playable on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles (as seen in the Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla trailers). It’s clear that Microsoft is experimenting with how best to communicate cross-platform titles going forward and it’s possible that this may be the style they’ve settled on.

This new logo, as you can see in the above image which has been taken from the end of the Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time trailer, features the Xbox logo and specific mentions of both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X afterwards. This is arguably the best style to use as it promotes the Xbox brand and confirms, in an easy-to-understand format, what consoles the game can be played on.

Curiously, this logo is only used on the trailer hosted on the Crash Bandicoot YouTube channel. The version of the video on the official Xbox YouTube channel uses the ambiguous Xbox logo (see below).

There’s still several months until the launch of the Xbox Series X console so the exact way in which game compatibility will be marketed to consumers in videos, store listings, and on physical packaging is likely still being locked in.

Clear labelling is important though if Microsoft wants to avoid confusion as right now the majority of Xbox One games should be playable on the Xbox Series X console but many future Xbox One games will also be getting separate Xbox Series X versions as well and some people may buy the wrong version.
