Microsoft unveiled a new Forza 6 TV ad today, featuring a 2017 Ford GT racing past a cars from a litany of racing games, starting with Gran Trak 10 from Atari in 1974, 1982’s Pole Position, RC Pro Am from 1987, Chase HQ from 1988, and finally passing 1993’s Ridge Racer before ending the sequence in Forza Motorsport 6.

Creative agency twofifteenmccann spared no expense in inserting the Ford GT into the games:

To place the photorealistic car inside the pixelated game worlds, Xbox photographed a real-life, multimillion dollar prototype of the Ford GT that was suspended within a motion-controlled hydraulic rig. Tracking markers were used in-camera so that shots of the real car fit perfectly into the simulated environment of the earlier generation games. The spot concludes with actual Xbox One footage featuring the in-game Ford GT within Forza Motorsport 6.

The ad is slated to run around the world during this weekend’s telecast of the Formula One Italian Grand Prix, and Forza Motorsport 6, with its 460 cars and 26 racing environments is set to launch on September 15th, or you can check out a demo on Xbox One now. As an added bonus, anyone playing the demo will get the Ford GT free!
