Microsoft Teams is adding a feature that will allow users to record their meetings automatically. The company has recently confirmed on its UserVoice forum that it’s actively working on this feature, and it’s coming soon to the Teams desktop apps (via Windows Latest).
The new capability will enable hosts to turn on the automatic recording option directly in the app Settings. With this feature enabled, Microsoft Teams will start recording automatically when the meeting starts. The app will display a small pop-up on the screen to notify participants that this meeting is being recorded by the organizer.
The ability to automatically record meetings is one of the top requested features, and it’s already available in Teams rival Zoom. Live events in Microsoft Teams support the automatic recording setting, but users need to rely on third-party solutions for meetings. Unfortunately, there’s no ETA available as to when this improvement will eventually go live, but we will keep an eye on the Microsoft 365 roadmap to let you know as soon as an update is available for users.
The app has been growing very fast since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, and Microsoft announced last week that it had crossed 145 million Teams daily active users. Some other features that are set to make it to the popular collaboration platform include an improved Calling experience, expanded emoji picker, Shared Calendars, and more.
