Microsoft releases firmware updates for the Surface 3 and Surface 3 LTE

For Microsoft, Patch Tuesday presented the company with a chance to update several of its services with updates and fixes in one big update. However, today’s Patch Tuesday brings a much larger swath of updates across apps, platforms and devices for Microsoft.

Earlier today, Windows users on both PCs and Mobile received a host of app updates along with device configurations. Now owners of the Surface 3 and Surface 3 LTE devices are going to the update party, receiving firmware updates for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. The new firmware updates bring a ton of bug fixes Surface 3 and Surface 3 LTE owners.

Fixes for the Surface 3 on Window 10 include:

  • Low Power Subsystem SPI Controller (v604.10146.2657.947) – Chipset drivers update improves system stability and touchscreen reliability.
  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware update (v1.0.51500.0) – Improves Surface 3 Type Cover experience.
  • Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.9030.47) – Improves the wireless network connectivity and stability.
  • Surface UEFI update (v1.50811.238.0) – Improves the power performance and system reliability, adds support for Modern Standby in Windows 10, and adds configurable support from the Windows OS for provisioning scenarios.
  • SST Audio Device (v604.10135.7777.2109) – Enhances audio performance and improves the audio experience while playing music and games.
  • Serial IO GPIO Controller (v604.10146.2652.3930)
  • Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver (v604.10146.2651.1559)
  • Serial IO I2C ES Controller (v604.10146.2654.3564)
  • Serial IO UART Controller (v604.10146.2653.391)
  • Sideband Fabric Device (v604.10146.2655.573)
  • Trusted Execution Engine Interface (v2.0.0.1067)

Fixes for the Surface 3 LTE on Windows 10 include:

  • Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.9030.47) – Improves the wireless network connectivity and stability.
  • Geolocation Sensor driver update (v20.23.8244.18) – Improves GPS experience.
  • Surface CoSAR driver update (v2.0.270.0) – Enhances the Wi-Fi connectivity reliability while mobile broadband is ON.
  • SST Audio Device (v604.10135.7777.2109) – Enhances audio performance and improves the audio experience while playing music and games.
  • Intel Serial IO GPIO Controller (v604.10146.2652.3930)
  • Surface UEFI update (v1.50811.238.0) – Improves the power performance and system reliability, adds support for Modern Standby in Windows 10, and adds configurable support from the Windows OS for provisioning scenarios.
  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware update (v1.0.51500.0) – Improves Surface 3 Type Cover experience.
  • Intel(R) Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver (v604.10146.2651.1559)
  • Intel(R) Serial IO I2C ES Controller (v604.10146.2654.3564)
  • Intel(R) Sideband Fabric Device (v604.10146.2655.573)
  • Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine Interface (v2.0.0.1067)
  • Intel(R) Serial IO UART Controller (v604.10146.2653.391)

For those on the older Windows 8.1 operating system, the firmware updates for Surface 3 include:

  • Surface UEFI update (v1.50811.238.0) – Improves the power performance and system reliability, and adds configurable support from the Windows OS for provisioning scenarios.
  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware update (v1.0.51500.0) – Improves Surface 3 Type Cover user experience.
  • Intel Serial IO GPIO Controller (v603.9600.2305.3926) – Improves touch screen reliability.

And the Surface 3 LTE:

  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware update (v1.0.51500.0) – Improves Surface 3 Type Cover experience.
  • Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.9030.193) – Improves the wireless network connectivity and stability.
  • Geolocation Sensor driver update (v20.23.8244.18) – Improves GPS experience.
  • Surface UEFI update (v1.50811.238.0) – Improves the power performance and system reliability, adds support for Modern Standby in Windows 10, and adds configurable support from the Windows OS for provisioning scenarios.
  • Surface CoSAR driver update (v2.0.270.0) – Enhances the Wi-Fi connectivity reliability while mobile broadband is ON.

The firmware update is rolling out now and should be hitting devices in the coming hours.
