Microsoft includes a precision pointer in Windows 10 for phones

A few days ago, Microsoft spent 2 hours detailing what’s new in Windows 10, as well taking the time to put Google’s Glass to shame, but it quickly became evident that there was even more new features that the company simply didn’t have the time to talk about in detail.

One of those new features is the inclusion of a precision pointing stick in the on-screen keyboard. The button reminds us of what Lenovo still offers on its ThinkPad laptops. The pointing stick makes it easier for users to position the keyboard cursor between letters in a word as you can see in the image below.

It doesn’t seem to be there to control a mouse cursor, but that doesn’t seem necessary on a mobile device like a smartphone where buttons are large enough to touch simply. Still, it’s a welcome feature and goes to show that Microsoft is paying close attention to detail.
