Microsoft Edge performs more than twice as fast as Chrome, according to javascript benchmark

For those who missed the big news, Microsoft released build 10240 of Windows 10 today. Among one of those are improvements to Microsoft Edge’s speed along with other enhancements. Microsoft claims that their new Edge web browser beats Google Chrome and Apple Safari, even on the company’s JavaScript benchmarks.

According to Microsoft’s blog post, Edge is about 112% faster than Chrome on the WebKit Sunspider JavaScript test. Microsoft’s Edge also claims a JavaScript benchmark score of 11% higher than Chrome on Google Octane and 37% better on Apple Jetstream. These scores are quite impressive.

The team behind Microsoft Edge have been working hard at optimizing the browser. If Edge does indeed perform as well as Microsoft says it does, it may as well be the next big web browser, and could some day beat Chrome as the most used web browser in the world. After all, who wouldn’t want a browser that could breeze through all of your JavaScript intensive sites without even the slightest sluggishness?
