The N and KN editions of Windows have been around since the days of Windows XP — they feature an operating system without Windows Media Player, all due to an issue with the European Commission back in 2004 where Microsoft was accused of anti-competitive practices. The EU decided that by bundling Windows Media Player with Windows, Microsoft was being unfair to its competitors. This resulted in the N edition of Windows (Europe) and the KN edition of Windows (Korea).
If you are running Windows 10 N or KN, you can add the Media Player functionality with a small update. “The Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10 will install Media Player and related technologies on a computer running Windows 10 N or Windows 10 KN editions,” the description reads.
