Microsoft announces hybrid cloud management improvements

Two months ago at Ignite, Microsoft announced the Operations Management Suite as a new hybrid management solution to help IT pros manage their workloads in the cloud, regardless of where those workloads are. It is a part of Microsoft’s greater strategy to meet developers and companies where they are as more of Microsoft’s customers are using multiple cloud providers for their operations.

Today, Microsoft announced more updates on their Server and Cloud Blog for their tools to manage cloud services. In addition to launching the Operations Management Suite add-on for System Center, Microsoft also announced updates for:

  • Azure Site Recovery to support physical and VMWare VMs,
  • Azure Backup updates to strengthen data protection for Azure Backup, Azure Backup for IaaS VMs, and Azure-based management console
  • Enhanced support for System Center 2012 R2 DPM to provide greater heterogeneous support with new host level, agentless backup of VMware VMs

For more information about specific features included in today’s updates, as well as pricing for the OMS add-on for System Center, head over to Microsoft’s Server and Cloud Blog. The announcement also concludes by saying more updates can be expected over the coming months as Microsoft continues to change to meet today’s rapidly changing cloud environment.
