The Windows operating system, and the corresponding mobile OS from Microsoft, are in need of apps. The ecosystem is steadily growing, but the company needs more to make its offering compelling. Now there is added incentive for developers to move Unity-created games over to the two platforms.
“Microsoft is sweetening the deal for the talented and committed Unity developers who want to bring their existing Unity titles to Windows Store and Windows Phone”, says Microsoft’s Doris Chen.
There are two levels of incentives, with the first offering a free Dev Center account, a Windows 8 Pro license, a developer device (your choice of phone or tablet) and priority review when your app is submitted. Level two, meanwhile, contains all of those benefits, but also adds a one million impressions package from AdDuplex, a second developer device, featured app placement and access to tech support.
