During Microsoft’s financial analysts meeting last week, Microsoft COO Kevin Turner mentioned that 40% of the Xbox LIVE audience is comprised of females. This is a “giant change” since the service was launched back in 2002.

Although no specific numbers were presented during the event, Turner simply stated that 40% of the Xbox LIVE audience is female. Turner didn’t elaborate on what exactly “audience” entails.

Turner also went on record to state that the Xbox LIVE service has 48 million members in 41 different countries. He also stated that 42% of Xbox LIVE subscribers in the United States watch 30 hours of digitally distributed TV and movies each month. In totality, the Xbox platform has delivered over 18 billion hours of entertainment worldwide.

Turner also touted the upcoming November 22nd release of the new Xbox One entertainment console. “And we’re excited about the upcoming Xbox One launch. We believe we’ve got an incredible offering with Xbox One as it relates to multiplayer experiences and services,” Turner stated.

“It’s going to give you–we’ve wrapped a lot of entertainment with the product as well, and we believe we’ve got our strongest game lineup, and the external pundits say it as well, that we’ve ever had to be able to offer as a company,” he adds.
