With the final stages of Microsoft’s purchase of Nokia’s Devices and Services division coming to a close in the last few months, the release slate for Windows Phones has understandably been a little bare. As such when this image of a 5-inch Windows Phone came, seemingly from the factory floor, it was to universal surprise.

As mentioned, the device clearly seems to be around ‘flagship’ size and the Windows logo is clearly visible at the bottom of the screen. Other than that however, not a great deal is clear. Though ITHome seem to think it is the mythical successor to the 1020, which for those who don’t know is the rumored 1030. Considering there is no concrete information regarding this device (not even a codename), it’s somewhat impossible to pinpoint or even guess what this device could possibly be.

This is an area of enormous potential for Windows Phone and it seems that Microsoft will likely keep their focus on this region until the next tech season picks up in the west with CES in Las Vegas and MWC in Barcelona. Regardless, the appearance of new Windows Phones on the scene is always welcome, especially as the OS picks up the pace around the world.
