To celebrate May The Fourth (aka Star Wars Day), NPD’s Mat Piscatella shared a chart on Twitter that showed the ranking of the top ten Star Wars video games from 1995 through to March this year.
The top three Star Wars video games are all EA titles that were released relatively recently. The 2015 reboot of Star Wars Battlefront claims the top spot and is followed by Jedi: Fallen Order and the new Battlefront sequel, Star Wars Battlefront II.
It’s May 4th, so here are the top 10 best-selling Star Wars games in the U.S. from January 1995 through March 2021.

Rather amusingly, almost all of the games in places four through ten are either LEGO Star Wars or classic Star Wars Battlefront titles with the exceptions being The Force Unleashed in fifth position and Shadows of the Empire in tenth.
It should be noted that NPD’s chart ranks Star Wars video games by dollar sales, not by unit sales. This means that some titles may have sold more copies than those above them but those sales could have been at a lower price. This chart also doesn’t make any claims one way or the other about game profitability or critical and player reception.
For example, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is considered a classic by most but it didn’t even make the list. The recently released Star Wars Squadrons also didn’t make the top ten though this could be because it was a smaller game than Fallen Order and Battlefront II so was sold at a cheaper price.
Regardless of which titles ranked where, most will agree that all ten of these Star Wars video games made an impact when they were released with many still getting some play time in 2021 with fans. With the exception of Shadows of the Empire, which launched on the Nintendo 64 console and Windows, most of these games are actually still playable on Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox Series X family of consoles in one form or another due to Xbox’s solid backwards compatibility support.
Some newer titles such as Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Battlefront II are even still getting updates with the former getting a planned Xbox Series X upgrade sometime later this year and the latter recently receiving an FPS boost.
Note: My personal recommendation is Star Wars Battlefront II which I’ve been playing almost daily since it launched over three years ago.
