Sea of Thieves season 10 has been delayed from a projected August release to October 19. The announcement was made on the Sea of Thieves site blog and posted by Head of Community Christina McGrath.

Hello, pirates. As some of you may have seen, we released a video today detailing some of the changes we’ve had to make to our upcoming release roadmap. Unfortunately, this includes the difficult decision to push back the launch of Season Ten to Thursday, 19th October 2023.

Sea of Thieves 2023 Edition

McGrath and key members of the development team elaborated in an update video (seen above), citing season 10’s headline feature as the reason for the delay. This “big, brand-new” feature is something the team is still keeping under wraps, though the post describes it as “something that we’ve found tougher than anticipated to pull together – especially to the quality bar we’re striving to meet.”

In the meantime, players still have new content headed their way in Season 9. Most exciting is the Legend of Monkey Island crossover. The first part of this three-part event, “The Journey to Mêlée Island,” is already available. Stay tuned for more news on Sea of Thieves as it develops.
