Microsoft’s presence at this year’s Gamescom has been confirmed by the organizers of the highly anticipated gaming event. In an announcement made on their official Twitter account earlier today, it was revealed that both Xbox and Bethesda will be participating in Gamescom, which is set to take place at Koelnmesse in Cologne from August 23 to 27.

Gamescom, one of the world’s largest games shows, has successfully secured the attendance of two out of the three major platform holders. Nintendo’s participation had already been confirmed back in April, adding to the excitement surrounding the event.
However, the disappointing news for gaming enthusiasts is that Sony will not be attending Gamescom this year. The last time PlayStation made an appearance at the show was back in 2019, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sony has since chosen not to participate in the physical event that took place last year.
Interestingly, Xbox has been making its mark in the gaming community by being the sole platform holder to showcase its games during both the Summer Games Fest and the scheduled E3 2023. At these events, Xbox delighted fans by announcing a new variant of the Xbox Series S, set to launch this September. Additionally, they showcased highly anticipated titles like Fable and Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws, generating substantial buzz and anticipation among gamers.
On the other hand, Sony and Nintendo decided to take a different route by hosting their separate events. Sony made noteworthy announcements, including the reveal of a handheld PlayStation 5 accessory, among other exciting updates, back in May. Nintendo, a few weeks after the Summer Game Fest, captured fans’ attention with their unveiling of new games such as Mario, Detective Pikachu, and WarioWare.
