Ever since Microsoft debuted the new Bing, the company completely revolutionized how people interact with the web. With Bing Chat part of the experience, it’s easier to find what you’re sourcing for on the web and even refine your searches further to meet your specific needs and wants.

However, this experience has been quite limiting at the very least with Microsoft having to place a cap on the tool’s capabilities after several users raised complaints that it had been hallucinating and outrightly giving incorrect responses to queries.

To mitigate this issue, Microsoft currently has Bing Chat’s character limit set to 2,000 and while this usually gets the job done, there are some instances when you might need a little bit more. It’s possible that Microsoft could expand this limit in the future.

If you’re one of those people that would like to generate a lot of content at once and dread breaking down your query into smaller parts, this neat trick will help you expand your limit as highlighted in r/bing.

Here’s what you need to do:

- Hover over the Ask me anything text on the webpage, then right-click and left-click on Inspect.
- You’ll be directed to the text-area class.
- Next, find the variable maxlength.
- Change its limit to 25000.

This trick didn’t work for me, but perhaps you might have better luck. It’s no secret that the character limit is an issue that a lot of users would like fixed.

Yeah, I keep bumping into it myself. We need to reliably increase the context size in all the modes/entry points first, then increase the input limit. We increased the context length for Edge browser today, I'm happy about that. Baby steps 🙂
