CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has crossed the 50 million units sold threshold. That is quite an impressive number by any standard, and makes this third video game installment of Geralt of Rivia’s saga one of the best-selling games ever. In addition, the series as a whole has now sold over 75 million copies worldwide.

The team took to Twitter to post their thanks to everyone who’s played.

The School of the Wolf is growing! 🐺 Over 50 million people joined Geralt of Rivia on his Path of finding Ciri and defeating the Wild Hunt!

Thank you for your enormous support over the years! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/lhMHmgF34z

This feat puts The Witcher 3 in the same league as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mario Kart 8 + Deluxe—impressive company indeed! However, it is still a ways behind the top echelon of the biggest game sellers like Minecraft and Tetris each with literally hundreds of millions of copies sold.

Despite coming out in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still going strong in terms of popularity, and is considered a defining games of the previous generation. It received a next-gen update late last year.
