Microsoft Patch Tuesday: 34 Flaws Patched

Microsoft today released yet another round of security updates fixing more than 30 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office, SQL Server, and various other products.

As Cnet news reports, both Microsoft and Adobe released security updates today fixing numoures security holes and bugs.

Microsoft’s list consists of 16 bulletins that fixes a total of 34 holes, including critical holes in Windows and Internet Explorer, while Adobe has addressed a hole in Flash Player that reportedly has been the reason for a range of attacks.

Microsoft’s list of 34 fixes has 9 “critial” and 25 “important” bulletins and according to a Microsoft blog post 4 “critical-level” fixes should be addressed before anything, they are:

•MS11-042, which fixes vulnerabilities in the distributed file system that affects all versions of Windows.

•MS11-043, which closes a hole in SMB Client on Windows.

•MS11-050, which is a cumulative bulletin resolving 11 bugs in Internet Explorer.

•MS11-052, which fixes a vulnerability in the Microsoft implementation of Vector Markup Language and affects Windows and Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8.

Software affected by these updates is Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Office XP, 2003, 2007, 2010, Office 2004 and 2008 for Mac, SQL Server 2005 and 2008, Silverlight 4, Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010, and Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 Client.

Adobe’s updates addresses issues in Flash Player, Shockwave Player, and Adobe Reader and Acrobat as well as letting people turn automatic update on by default, they said.
