Earlier today, the prolific retired Twitter leaker Evan Blass posted an image of the abandoned Microsoft Mercury tablet. Although Microsoft is focusing more on the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface 3 at the moment, the company did kill some tablets in the past, especially after they acquired Nokia. In case you can’t recall, Nokia Mercury tablet is one of the four cancelled tablets we heard about a few months back, including Pine, Illusionist, and Vegas/Atlas along with Mercury.
We didn’t hear too much about the alleged tablet in the past, but if you take a closer look at the image above, the tablet looks more like a smartphone with a few buttons on the side, possibly volume rocker and the power button. It also appears to have a SIM card slot of data connectivity.

Unfortunately, the company cancelled the device for good, but on a brighter side, it could have been the right choice after the failure of the Nokia 2520 tablet, which launched with Windows RT.
