National Public Radio releases NPR One app on Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone

Today, National Public Radio released their streaming app, NPR One, for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone as a universal app. NPR One was already released on Android and iOS and I didn’t think it would ever make the leap to Windows Phone, but I was proven wrong. NPR One gives you access to your favorite local radio stations, as well as suggestions made by NPR One, based on your interests and local radio stations that you like.

The interface is simple and minimalist, and there is a quick tutorial to give you a background on how to use the basic controls. Play, pause, rewind, and skip buttons are all the controls that you will need with NPR One. If you find a station you like, just tap the “interesting” light bulb button, so your selection will be saved within your NPR One preferences.

You are required to login to NPR One in order to use the app; you can do so with either your NPR.org account or Microsoft account. There is also a Share option to share a story, but you can only use it after you’ve tapped the “interesting” light bulb icon. NPR One’s features include:

  • A personalized stream of NPR and local station news and stories
  • Skip, rewind, pause and share
  • Search for your favorite shows, stations, and podcasts
  • International, national, regional and local content
  • A simple, intuitive interface

So, if you like NPR and are looking for app that is simple, NPR One is for you. You can download NPR One for both Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone from the links below.
