Microsoft Rolls Out Paint App to Dev Channel Insiders

About a month after the initial tease from Panos Panay, Microsoft is finally delivering the redesigned Paint app to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. As a reminder, the new paint app brings a modern take on the classic Windows paint experience, to better line up with the overall looks and feels of Windows 11.

According to Microsoft, some of the new features in the new Paint app include rounded corners and Mica. The new paint app also brings a newly simplified toolbar with updated icon designs. You should see a rounded color palette and a new set of drop-down menus for commonly accessed things like brushes, the size of strokes, as well as the ability to flip and rotate images. There’s even a new text tool, which can be accessed from the “A” icon in the toolbar.

This preview version of the new Windows 11 paint app isn’t yet final. Microsoft is planning to improve the dark theme, add a centered canvas, as well as dialog boxes. There’s lots of hope on the horizon, and we’re looking forward to getting our hands on the app soon.
