Lumia 830

Last month at the IFA 2014 press event, Microsoft introduced a number of new Windows Phone offerings, including the Lumia 730, 735 and 830. Lumia 730 and 735 are almost identical when it comes to specifications, except the Lumia 735 features LTE connectivity with a single SIM support. As for the Lumia 830, it’s touted as the mid-range affordable flagship, with a PureView camera sensor on board.

Last month, Microsoft announced both handsets were available for pre-orders, but if you prefer buying the devices SIM-free, you be glad to find know that both handsets are now available at Unlocked Mobiles, a UK-based retailer. The entry-level Lumia 735 comes with a £224.98 price tag, while the Lumia 830 costs £304.98. These devices comes in unlocked flavors, meaning you can use them on your choice of network in the UK.

As for the specifications, Lumia 735 boasts a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz, and Adreno 330 to handle the graphics. There’s 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage, coupled with a microSD card support of up to 128GB, in case you require more storage. The handset comes with a wide-angle, selfie capable 5MP camera, as well as a 6.7MP primary camera with Carl Zeiss Optics, 2200 mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity. On the software side, it ships with Windows Phone 8.1 (with Lumia Denim) out of the box.

On the other hand, Lumia 830 comes with almost a similar set of specifications, but with one major change: the camera. The device features a 10MP camera with PureView technology, and optical image stabilization to capture sharper images. Rest of the specifications are almost identical; there’s a 5-inch 720p display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, a 2200 mAh battery and runs Windows Phone 8.1 (with Lumia Denim).

The price difference between both devices aren’t much, and if it was me, I would choose the Lumia 830 — the different is less than £100.
