Lumia 635 comes to sprint, boost mobile and virgin mobile

Sprint may have stopped selling Windows Phone handsets, but the carrier said they are still committed to the operating system, and will launch more Windows Phone devices in the future. It appears they were correct, the carrier announced that Lumia 635 will be available on multiple Sprint brands, starting with Virgin Mobile USA and Boost Mobile from December 23rd. This is the first Windows Phone 8.1 handset to launch on Sprint for its prepaid customers.

“We are excited to welcome Lumia 635 as our first Windows Phone on our two no-contract brands – Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA – providing customers the ultimate in financial flexibility and choice,” said David Owens, senior vice president, Product Development. “This device is the showpiece for our reinvigorated relationship with Microsoft, and we know our customers will appreciate all they can do with the powerful Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. Our Sprint postpaid customers will experience this device right after the new year.”

Beginning December 23rd, Lumia 635 will be available online in cyan at Boost Mobile, and in white on Virgin Mobile for $99 excluding tax. From January 9th, the handset will hit retail at Boost Mobile’s exclusive retail stores, select independent wireless dealers nationwide and later in the month at select national retail locations. At the moment, there’s no word about the pricing plans Sprint plans to offer, but it’s subsidiaries pricing isn’t that bad.

If you’re in the market looking for a budget-friendly smartphone, or simply want to give Windows Phone operating system a run, Lumia 635 is a good buy. It comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, and a 4.5-inch display, a 1,830 mAh battery, 8GB of expandable and Windows Phone 8.1 as its operating system. The low 512MB RAM may be a downside for some, but the phone offers a decent performance.
