Hollywood Actors And Actresses Use Skype To Make A Big Impression During Casting – onmsft.com

Hollywood actors and actresses use Skype to make a big impression during casting

Connecting with people over great distance has been the aim of technology since the beginning, and even in today’s connected world it can be difficult to establish a steady connection. Mobile phone calls rely upon towers being close enough to maintain a strong signal, on the other hand VoIP services can establish a connection anywhere internet is available. Skype facilitates communication over any distance when deadlines are tight or only an audio call isn’t enough. Auditioning for roles in movies can be stressful for actors and actresses but picking the right person to play a character can be equally stressful and tricky for directors.

Skype is a great tool which has enabled several auditions for blockbuster films across a great distance. When a movie is shooting on location everyone involved could be camped out in an obscure town far from solid cell service. Several other “A-List” Hollywood talent have used Skype to communicate with casting directors. Jennifer Lawrence auditioned over Skype for her amazing role in “Silver Linings Playbook” and Jared Leto caught the attention of Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallée by Skyping in a dress, wig and lipstick to nab the part in “Dallas Buyer’s Club.” When crucial communication cannot happen in person, Skype is the next best thing.
