Firmware for surface pro 3 and surface 3 available today

In keeping with tradition, Microsoft has issued firmware updates to their Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 models today. The updates fix some underlying issues which should hopefully resolve a few problems users are having. The change log of the updates for Surface Pro 3 include some Windows 10 support, WiFi/Bluetooth driver update, and SATA controller driver updates. The Surface 3 sees updates to almost every piece of hardware, including cover, graphics, audio, WiFi/Bluetooth, pen, and camera.

These updates should show up automatically via Windows update, but be warned firmware updates almost always require a reboot and may take longer than normal software updates. Microsoft has been very diligent when it comes to delivering updates to their first party hardware, however they are needed because both devices could use some tweaking. Surface has done a good job showing how Microsoft will support their hardware going forward, hopefully this trend continues and Microsoft keeps pushing improvements to their users.

Surface Pro 3 Change Log June 2015:

  • Surface Pro UEFI update (v3.11.950.0) adds support for new features in Windows 10.
  • Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.3091.193) improves the system stability and the Wi-Fi connectivity experience, also increases the network download performance.
  • SATA AHCI Controller driver update (v9.4.0.1028) stabilizes deployment methodology on Surface Pro 3.
