Microsoft has rolled out a new firmware update for users of the Surface Laptop 1 and 2 models. The changelog is exactly the same across the two generations and the Surface firmware (145.603.139.0) should bring battery charging improvements to both devices.

Battery smart charging is a useful feature that comes with the first and second-generation models of the Surface Laptop and provides protection against battery deterioration. It has been designed to automatically limit battery charging capacity when a device is used at high temperatures or plugged in for a long time.

The new Surface firmware update is available for Surface Laptop 1 and 2 owners running Windows 10 May 2019 Update or newer. As always, you can download the updates manually by heading to Update & Security and clicking Check for Updates.
