Yahoo Spotted Testing Other Search Providers For Its Search Engine, Namely Google – onmsft.com

Yahoo is testing other search providers for its search engine, namely Google

Under the recently renegotiated agreement with Microsoft, Yahoo is permitted to look else where for some of its search results. Previously it used Bing exclusively.

Search Engine Land recently spotted that Google is being introduced in to some search results. Under the agreement, Bing still needs to be used for 51% of traffic.

Yahoo have responded saying that it is a test to “create the absolute best experiences for Yahoo users”. In the test, the ads on the right hand side are supplied by Google and not Bing. The results vary also. There is concern that users may notice the difference, but it’s likely that most won’t.

Here you can see some of the differences between the two in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP).

Do you think the Microsoft deal with Yahoo is important for Bing? Will Yahoo exclusively switching to Google after the partnership ends have a significant effect on Bing? Let us know what your thoughts are in the comments section below.
