The Xbox Series X|S has once again managed to outsell the PlayStation 5 in Japan for the second time. As it did back in late May, Microsoft’s next-gen console sold more units than did Sony’s for the week.
This time, however, both the Series X and Series S fared almost equally well for the week of June 13-19, with the Series X selling 3,272 units and the Series S selling 3,423. By comparison both versions of the PS5 sold 3,035 units combined for the week, which is less than half of the Xbox Series total. These numbers come form a report from Famitsu published on June 23.
While PS5 stock shortages are no doubt a factor here, there is still a point to be made about the Xbox Series’ reception in Japan. Could Xbox finally be gaining ground in this Sony and Nintendo-dominated territory? Only time will tell, but things are looking encouraging for Japanese Xbox fans.
