CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt video games were both expected to receive free upgrades for Microsoft’s new Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles this year but both have now officially been delayed until 2022.
The announcement was made this morning via the CD Projekt Red Twitter account which stated that the “next generation updates” had been delayed due to recommendations from the various teams working on each project.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will now get its free update in the first quarter of next year while Cyberpunk 2077 will get its upgrade in the second quarter.
Of course, due to the delays, the “next generation” upgrades are now for the current generation of video game consoles, not the actual next gen consoles which would be whatever Microsoft and Sony release after the Xbox Series X and PS5 respectively.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a video game that’s received almost universal critical acclaim from critics and players while Cyberpunk 2077 had a rather controversial launch due to several unfinished aspects and a generally poor performance on the (then) current gen consoles like the Xbox One and PS4.
