Xbox One sells one million consoles in just 24 hours since launch

Xbox has set a new record! These past 24 hours led Xbox to have the biggest launch ever, with over one million Xbox One consoles sold worldwide.

“We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, Xbox.

The Xbox One is sold out at most retailers and Microsoft is working on getting the consoles back on stock as soon as possible to meet customer’s demands.

“Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season,” Mehdi adds.

In the past 24 hours, over 60 million zombies have been killed in “Dead Rising 3,” over 3.6 million miles driven in “Forza Motorsport 5,” over 7.1 million combos in “Killer Instinct,” and over 8.5 million enemies defeated in “Ryse: Son of Rome.”

It wasn’t only the Xbox One that had one million units sold in the first 24 hours of launch. As a matter of fact, Sony also achieved that with their Playstation 4 launch. It is interesting to see how many people were very judgmental of the Xbox One when it was announced at E3 and immediately predicted the PS4 as the winner of this next-generation console battle, and yet, one million units have been sold for both consoles. I guess we’ll just have to wait long-term to see which console will be the king of the throne.
