Xbox One to get a new system update (1908) next month

Microsoft’s Xbox One consoles are about to receive another system update next month that will succeed to the recently released July 2019 Update. Yesterday, Microsoft pushed the first Xbox One 1908 build to Xbox Insiders on the Preview Alpha Ring, explaining that “this first update is meant to lay the groundwork for what’s to come in 1908.”

If there are no new features or even bug fixes in this first 1908 build, we expect the Xbox team to share more details soon. Microsoft tested download queue improvements with select Insiders last month, including the ability to see the estimated time to finish downloads, and to move titles in the queue up and down. These two features didn’t make it to the July 2019 update, but maybe Microsoft will finally ship them with the 1908 update next month.

Microsoft has consistently released new minor updates for the Xbox One OS in the past couple of months, but the company is also testing the next major update (1910) with Skip Ahead Insiders ahead of its Fall release. We except the 1910 update to bring us the new console streaming feature that Microsoft announced at E3 last month, but Xbox Insiders can’t test it yet. In the meantime, we’ll let you know as soon as we get more details about the next Xbox One system update coming next month.
