Xbox One and Xbox 360 receive new third-party apps for gaming, sports, and movies

Microsoft has rolled out some new third-party apps for the Xbox platform, which are sure to please gaming, sports, and movie fans. The majority of these new apps are for the Xbox 360, while one app (the Major League Baseball app) is available for the Xbox One.

“This week we’re rolling out new experiences that offer a little something for everyone on Xbox One and Xbox 360 – from the hardcore gamer, sports nut or movie buff. Whether you’re gearing up for the next video game tournament with Major League Gaming or want to kick back and watch the latest movies from ENCORE PLAY, we’ve got it right here on Xbox,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

The Major League Gaming (MLG) app is now available on the Xbox 360 (US, Canada, UK, and Australia) and you can watch all of MLG’s programming on your Xbox 360 console.  The Xbox 360 now has access to the Encore Play and MoviePlex Play apps (via the STARZ network), which offers a catalog of more than 1,500 premium movies. The apps are free and are available with subscription. If you are a Time Warner Cable Digital Basic or Preferred TV subscriber, you can snag the Epix app for free until June 18th. Epix offers an extensive library of movies, music and entertainment.

The Xbox One, on the other hand, now has access to the Major League Baseball app, which offers live, HD-quality video of every out-of-market regular season game in 2014. Archives for every game will be available as well in case you missed a game.

Try out these apps and let us know what you think!
