Xbox Live monthly active users increase to 47 million according to FY17 Q1 earnings report

Microsoft’s earnings report from the first quarter of fiscal year 2017 has come in, and it shed a bit of light on the success of the Xbox One this past quarter. While the console had a rocky beginning as it first launched, it’s recently experienced some serious growth, with September being its third month in a row ahead of the competition in sales.

According to the latest earnings report from Microsoft, that growth in sales has been accompanied by a 21% increase in active Xbox Live users, resulting in a total of around 47 million users.

This figure is huge for a console that’s already been out for quite a while and is more or less driven by the recent release of the Xbox One S, which has sparked interest in the console once again. All in all, Microsoft couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the 2017 fiscal year – these past few months have done a lot to inspire confidence in Xbox One users.
