Xbox Friends & Family Plan is reportedly set to launch soon

Last year in August, Microsoft announced that it was working on an Xbox Friends & Family Plan designed to enhance the gaming experience for people that have multiple game players in one household. At the time, the company didn’t disclose when it was planning to make the official launch.

However, it now seems that we’re edging closer to that date according to @Jawmuncher on Twitter who shared a screenshot of an ad that appeared on his Xbox’s dashboard. Per the screenshot, Microsoft’s Xbox Friends & Family Plan will be priced at $39.95 per month. It hasn’t yet been established whether this is the New Zealand Dollar or the US Dollar.

Multiple users have also highlighted that they’ve encountered a similar experience. There was also another indication that the plan was set to launch in the US soon. This is after multiple users reported that the plan’s ads were appearing on the Xbox PC app’s home screen.

As reported earlier, the plan encourages account sharing among gamers and supports up to 5 members. This means that all 5 members get to enjoy all the Game Pass Ultimate perks under one account. However, there are several requirements that a user must meet to be part of the program.

First up, all members that want to be part of the Xbox Game Pass Family Plan must be residing in the same country. Additionally, once you join the plan, the remaining time on your membership will be converted to time in the new plan. Microsoft will base this upon the monetary value of the old membership.

It should be noted that the conversion won’t be available for invited group members. Furthermore, if you’re part of the Xbox All Access program, you won’t have access to this plan.

The news comes after Microsoft announced that it was scrapping its long-running $1 Game Pass trial promotion, and indicating that it is “evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.”
