Xbox 360 dominates console market yet again for 27 consecutive months

Xbox

The Xbox 360 remains the top-selling gaming console in the United States for another month, marking 27 consecutive months of success for the company. This trend of dominance continues over competitors like Nintendo and Sony.

Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 remains the #1 selling console in the United States, marking 27 months with the position. So far, over 261,000 (compared to 302,000 last month) units have been sold, and that’s only coming from the market in the United States! Over $402 million was spent on the product (all component related) which is far more than any other console on the market in the US.

Not only did the Xbox maintain that mark, but 6 of the top 10 games in the United States were, indeed, Xbox games. These included: “Bioshock Infinite,” “NBA 2K13,” “Gears of War: Judgment,” “Tomb Raider,” “The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops II.”

Earlier this month, “Xbox Tournaments with Virgin Gaming launched earlier this month exclusively on Xbox LIVE, brings gamers free-to-enter gaming tournaments for popular games including “EA Sports FIFA 13,” “NBA 2K13,” “EA Sports Madden NFL 13” and “EA Sports NHL 13,” and added that there will be more games offering this service in the future.

Microsoft has had a lot of success with the Xbox thus far, which is quite obvious when the software giant’s entertainment console is the top selling console for 27 consecutive months. Lets hope it stays that way with the next generation Xbox console, rumored to be introduced during Build 2013 in June.
