The popular messaging and chat app, Telegram, updated today for all its main platforms and added the ability for users to switch to video while in voice chats and share their screen with up to 30 chat participants.

“Today’s update lets you turn on your camera or share your screen during Voice Chats in groups – on all devices, including tablets and desktops,” the official announcement explains. “This brings voice chats to a whole new level, ready for online classes, business meetings and family gatherings.”

These changes are now live in the Windows 10 Telegram app and should work as soon as the app is updated via the Microsoft Store app store.

Here’s the brief release notes:

GROUP VIDEO CALLS

  • Start video conferences from Voice Chats in any group.
  • Share your screen or video from your camera with up to 30 participants (limit to be increased soon).
  • Talk without video with an unlimited number of participants.
  • Create voice chats using the voice chat button in the title bar of any group where you are an admin

Telegram is one of the strongest platforms for text, voice, and video communications on Windows due to its absolutely massive list of features that continue to grow by the month and the fact that it’s completely free to use.

Recent updates to the Windows Telegram app added credit card payments to chats, voice chats that support literally millions of listeners, and an increase of file transfer limits to 2GB.
