Windows Server 2012 R2 provides 'nearly constant uptime'

Windows Server 2012 R2 for Embedded Systems is now generally available, and a free trial can be downloaded from the product website. The improvements and benefits of the latest version are highlighted in a new company blog post.

R2 benefits from improved virtualizations as well as improvements in data transfer rates. Partha Srinivasan, Product Manager for Windows Embedded Server, said: “We think this is going to become the product for purpose-built, next-generation, enterprise class server appliances. With this edition, enterprises and OEMs now have a lot more capabilities and a host of improvements they can leverage to enhance performance, save space and ensure nearly constant uptime.”

These two things combined mean that it is possible to run fewer server appliances, and to run them faster than ever. There have also been improvements made to security including Protected User Groups and new authentication policy silos including end user protection.

Full details of what’s included in Windows Server 2012 R2 can be found on the product page, which you can see by hitting the VIA link below. Head over to the download link below to snag the 180-day free trial.
