Looks like our wait is nearly over as Microsoft plans on finalizing the RTM builds of Windows Server 2011 by March 30th.

Just recently, Microsoft released a release candidate for Windows Home Server 2011 (Code Name “Vail”). Microsoft describes its Server OS as “Affordable and easy-to-use and the ideal solution to help families keep their important digital files and PC’s automatically backed up, organized, and accessible.”

As Geeksmack reports, Microsoft is compiling the final RTM Escrow bits of the “Colorado” server lineup, which includes Windows Home Server 2011 (codename “Vail”), Windows Small Business Server 2011 (codename “Aurora”), and Windows Storage Server 2011 (codename “Breckenridge”). Microsoft plans to finalize the RTM builds of the “Colorado” family of products by March 30th.

Microsoft recently upset the community by removing an anticipated features of the Server OS called Drive Extender. This feature is set to make a come back via an add-in.

We will keep you apprised of any further news regarding Windows Home Server 2011 as it breaks.
