Windows rt 8. 1 preview

Looks like we will see a Windows RT 8.1 Preview and a Windows Server 2012 R2 during the time Windows 8.1 is released, as a screenshot has surfaced showcasing these two new names. We know that it’s inevitable that Windows RT and Windows Server will see an upgrade, but this is the first time we see a somewhat official mention to the upcoming SKUs.

According to references within Windows 8.1, more specifically the recently leaked build of 9374, Windows 8 will not be the only operating system receiving Windows Blue. As a matter of fact, Windows RT and Windows Server will also receive the Blue treatment. In the leaked build, we catch a glimpse of the naming scheme.

There is a reference to Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows RT 8.1 Preview in a file called “basebrd.dll.mui” in the recently leaked build of 9374. Could the final naming scheme of Windows Blue for Windows RT and Server 2012 be what’s shown on this screenshot?

Microsoft has yet to confirm that Windows Server or Windows RT will receive the Windows Blue treatment, but one thing is for sure. It will be a welcomed treat! Especially for those who have been itching to see the Start button again.
