Microsoft just released its 4th quarter earnings, and in what may be the least surprising announcement of the day, phone revenues for the company continued their steep decline, dropping 71%:
With no first party flagship phone in almost two years, a decided hands-off approach to marketing Windows 10 Mobile, and a “refocused” effort to narrow the scope of Windows phones for business users and enthusiasts, the market for Windows phones continues to dry up.
What happens to the future of mobile at Microsoft, whether or not they’ll be able to restart the market, remains to be seen. For now it’s more of the same, spiraling ever downward.
