On August 6th, Microsoft unveiled the Windows Phone App Studio beta. This new program allows newbies and experienced developers alike to develop an application of their own. The web-based app creation tool is designed to help people easily bring an app idea to life. Microsoft has provided an update to the App Studio and revealed that hundreds of apps have been published to the Windows Phone Store.
“I want to thank each of you for sharing your feedback and for your ongoing support of Windows Phone App Studio. You’ve downloaded the code and built some really compelling apps. Some are for personal use, but also hundreds have been successfully published in the Windows Phone Store as well,” Microsoft’s Emilio Salvador Prieto stated in an official blog post.
Microsoft has updated the App Studio beta based on user feedback and suggestions. Microsoft has fixed bugs, improved usability and performance, and updated the quality of the code generated. Microsoft has also made the menu bar easier to navigate and added SkyDrive integration so users can access pictures.
“Look around in App Studio and you’ll see that the menu bar now makes it easier to navigate. We enhanced the navigation buttons and made it much easier to edit collections after an app is created. We added dozens of new graphics elements: icons, backgrounds, and stock images you can use to enhance and sharpen the visual identity of your app,” Microsoft added.
Microsoft has also enhanced the Visual Studio project template and the code that gets generated.
