Windows Phone 8.1 Wi-Fi Settings

The past few days have been quite good when it comes to Microsoft’s latest offering, the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. The Redmond giant already seeded the SDK to developers, and since then, several new features have popped up all over the internet, including the much needed Action Center, etc. The thing is, they will keep coming up until Microsoft officially launches the latest OS. A set of screenshots have revealed that Windows Phone 8.1 will allow users to automatically turn-on WiFi.

The feature is hidden and is a part of the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK. This feature gives users the ability to turn on WiFi after a specific time period, ranging from one hour to one day, or users can also turn it on manually (as shown in the screenshot above). This feature is not something extraordinary, but can be quite handy for several users.

We’ve already seen a list of all the features that are expected to be included in the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1, and you can check them out here. One of the only few things left for us to witness is the highly rumored Cortana voice-assistant app.

Microsoft is rumored to unveil the next-generation operating system at the annual Build 2014 developer conference in April, with the public release around that time.

Editors note: removed a sentence that mentioned “Keep WiFi on when the screen times out” as a new feature, when in fact, it isn’t a new feature in Windows Phone 8.1.
