Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 emerges in the wild

Windows Phone has started to gain itself some attention, and updates are being made in response to feedback from users. Windows Phone 8.1 may not have been with us for all that long, but we’re already talking about the second update to Microsoft’s mobile operating system — or Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2.

Nokia Power User has stumbled across a new version of Windows Phone 8.1 which has a much higher version number than others that were previously known about. Until very recently, the most up to date version of Windows Phone 8.1 that had seen the light of day was 8.10.14157.200. But over on benchmarking website WP Bench, version number 8.15.12375.0 has been found — quite a jump.

At this stage, there is very little known about what changes may or may not be included but it is clear that development is continuing apace.

Back in April rumors about what we could expect to see in Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 started to creep out. Suggestions that the update could add support for 2K resolutions and the Snapdragon 805 processor are in line with the idea that GDR2 will include new hardware support.

With a possible update release (for developers, at least) pencilled in for October, there isn’t all that long to wait now, but what would you like to see in Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2?
