Windows 8.1 Update 1 now rumored to arrive during April 2014 Patch Tuesday via Windows Update

Previously, we were hearing that Windows 8.1 Update 1, the next update to the operating system, would arrive sometime around March. Now, according to new details from Mary Jo Foley over at ZDNet, Update 1 will likely arrive in April of this year.

More specifically, the update is rumored to arrive on Patch Tuesday via Windows Update. Foley cites two of her sources familiar with the matter. Foley states Patch Tuesday will be the method of distribution for the “Spring 2014” update, so we will likely see the update on April 8th.

OEMs, on the other hand, will likely receive the update in March. This opens up the chance of the update possibly leaking onto the internet before its intended release in April.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 was recently leaked to the internet and we even did a video walkthrough of the leaked Beta update. The update brings along quite a few minor tweaks to the operating system, such as a power button on the Start Screen, updated taskbar functionality, Modern UI changes and more.

Do you welcome the update via Windows Update or would you prefer it via the Windows Store – as was the case with Windows 8.1?
