Just recently, we learned that Windows 7 finally beat the decade old Windows XP operating system as the number one in market share. But how well is Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 8, doing after a month of being in the market? Well, according to new data from Net Applications, Windows 8 claims 1.09% of the worldwide desktop market share, as of November 2012.
As you can see from the images above, Windows 8 claims roughly 1.09% of the worldwide desktop market share, while Windows 7 continues to be number one at 44.71%. Windows XP comes in second place with 39.82% market share while Windows Vista comes in at 5.7%. It is no surprise that there are so few Windows 8 users out there, seeing as how Windows 8 has only been available for a little over a month. One thing to note, according to Net Applications back in August, Windows 7 was at 46.60% market share while Windows XP was at 46.33% market share. Now in November, Windows 7 drops by 1.89% while Windows XP drops by 6.51%. Windows 8, back in August, had a 0.25% market share, so it is obvious that Microsoft’s new operating system is slowly but surely climbing in market share.
