The core apps in Windows 8 aren’t the best, in fact, many reviews said the core apps were awful when it came to functionality. Microsoft understands this issue, and it seems they are planning to update them with new features before Windows Blue is released later this year. The updates could arrive as early as this month.

WinBeta

According to report from Mary Jo Foley, core apps such as Mail, People, Calendar, Music and other Windows 8 goodies could be seeing a big update pretty soon. It’s currently unknown what the updates will include, but we expect them to include more functionality, which might make them desktop app worthy.

The updates could launch as early as this month, well ahead of Windows Blue, which is expected to launch sometime later this year.
