Market Share Windows 8

The month of December has come to a close and it begs the question, how well did Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system do in terms of market share? Well, according to new data from Net Applications, Windows 8 claims 1.72% of the worldwide desktop market share, as of December 2012.

Windows 7 continues to be in the lead with a 45.11% market share (44.71% share back in November) while Windows XP sees a 39.08% market share (39.82% share back in November). Windows RT doesn’t seem to have any market share, according to the data, so this comes in as very interesting. One thing to note, according to Net Applications back in August, Windows 7 was at 46.60% market share while Windows XP was at 46.33% market share. So as you can see, Windows 8 is gaining some traction when it comes to market share.
