Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 Team 2020 Update 1 is generally available for all Surface Hub devices. The company began rolling out this update back in October 2020 before pausing it to incorporate user feedback.

“We’re pleased to announce that the Windows 10 Team 2020 Update 1, based on Windows 10, version 20H2, is now available for both the first-generation Surface Hub (55” and 84” models) and the latest Surface Hub 2S (50” and 85” models). Hubs connected to Windows Update will receive the update automatically, which typically occurs during nightly maintenance cycles,” the company explained.

The Windows 10 Team 2020 Update 1 is based on Windows 10 version 20H2, and it brings several highly anticipated features for Surface Hub users. First of all, the Surface Hub devices will now use the new Chromium-based Edge as a default browser. The update also brings support for the steady-state background image, so the backdrop of the welcome screen will now be available on the home screen as well. It should help to provide a consistent experience on experience on both screens.

In addition to these features, the Windows 10 Team 2020 Update includes a bunch of capabilities to help IT Admins deploy and manage updates on Surface Hub devices. There are also some new security features, and you can learn more details on this support page.

Microsoft noted that enterprise customers will be able to configure via Windows Update in order to install the Windows 10 Team 2020 Update 1 on their Surface Hub devices. However, be sure to check out the list of known issues with this feature update before making the switch.
