This week was full of new Windows 10 information and news, and as per every week, we’ve got you a weekly roundup. Starting off this week, Joe Belfiore in an interview confirmed that Windows 10 was indeed on track for RTM this summer. When asked if Windows 10 will launch in time in the summers, Belfiore said the core areas of the operating system are close to done. However, some of the areas are still a work-in-progress, but he didn’t give out an exact date.
Also this week, Microsoft somewhat admitted the mistakes they made with Windows 8, and how with Windows 10 they are working to rectify said mistakes. According to Belfiore, Microsoft is focusing on Windows 7 users, especially when it holds over 50 percent of the Windows market share. Windows 8 holds a little over 13 percent in market share, according to data from NetMarketshare. So it makes sense for Microsoft to make an attempt at wooing Windows 7 users with the new Windows 10 operating system.
Up next, Microsoft finally announced the new SKUs Windows 10 will be available in when it launches this summer. Windows 10 is expected to deliver a more personal computing experience across any device, ranging from PCs, tablets, phones, Xbox, HoloLens, and the Surface Hub. Windows 10 will also power the world around you, including ATMs, heart rate monitors, wearables, elevators, and much more thanks to the Internet of Things (IoT). Now, although Windows Insiders are still running build 10074, Microsoft continues to compile new builds everyday with new features and changes. This week, we managed to get our hands on Windows 10 build 10120, and can showcase a number of new changes and features. Some new changes include updates to Spartan and Cortana, as well as the Start Screen and more.
Finally, this week saw Microsoft announce that Candy Crush would be installed automatically on Windows 10 PC’s when it launches this year. “And we’re excited to be able to announce today that King will bring their game, Candy Crush Saga, to Windows 10. Candy Crush Saga will be automatically installed for customers that upgrade to or download Windows 10 during the launch! Over time, other popular and awesome King game titles will be available for Windows 10.”
