This week's Red Stripe Deals offers Space Weather, SuperPhoto and more

Every Thursday, Microsoft discounts some popular Windows and Windows Phone apps and games as a part of the Red Stripe Deals. This week’s deals are in and come with a number of handy apps and games for both platforms at attractive prices. Starting with a unique app called Space Weather which displays real-time images of the sun, web cam images from across the globe, location of satellites, images of Earth as seen from the space and the changing environmental conditions in near-Earth space or the space from the Sun’s atmosphere to the Earth’s atmosphere.

The app description reads:

Space weather is the concept of changing environmental conditions in near-Earth space or the space from the Sun’s atmosphere to the Earth’s atmosphere. Space weather affects our planet, our technology, and all living things in many different ways. Solar flares, geomagnetic storms, and solar radiation are a few ways space weather can wreak havoc on the earth. It can also create beautiful auroras can that be seen near the poles and sometimes much further.

It looks like a really handy app, which usually costs $1.99 in the Windows and Windows Phone store. However, starting today, users interested in it can grab it for $0.99.

Next up is “A World of Keflings”, a Windows game which lets you play as your Xbox Live avatar to build a kingdom, harvest resources and create cities in desert, forest and ice kingdoms. The game usually costs $3.99 in the Windows Store, but for the next seven days, users can purchase it for just $1.99.

The list also contains the popular RSS reader app Nextgen Reader for both the Windows and Windows Phone Stores. It’s arguably the best RSS reader available for Windows, and one of our favorites. It gives users the ability to follow news from their favorite websites. Users also have the option to import RSS files from other readers. The app costs $2.99 normally, but users can grab it for $0.99 for a limited time from the Windows and Windows Phone Store.

  • SuperPhoto ($1.99 in the Windows and Windows Phone Store)
  • Shoot 1UP ($1.49, usually $2.99 in the Windows Phone Store)
  • “Tennis in the Face” (99 cents in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store)
  • SecureWord ($1.49 in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store)

You must act fast if there’s any app which you were planning to purchase for your Windows or Windows Phone handset. Let us know in the comments below if you’ll be downloading any of these apps.
